Windows 7 Question - Favorites Folder

I have a couple of programs that when I run them a "Favorites" folder is created on my desktop. Two questions:
1. Why is this folder being created?
2. How do I keep it from being created?

Which programs? That might help figure this out.

I haven't seen any programs that do this.
