I recently dropped the annual subscription to an antivirus program (because they got too stinking greedy) and reverted back to the Windows program. Well anyway I fired up my RTL-SDR this evening with SDR-SHARP and got this...

... interesting. Since I only use it to listen to radio, I don't need it to have access to the Internet anyway.

Actually, that's a normal popup dialog when software requests access through the firewall. Don't confuse "Windows Defender" antivirus with "Windows Defender" firewall. That popup is simply asking if you want to allow SDR# to traverse the firewall, it's not a virus warning and has nothing to do with Windows Defender not "liking" the software.

And that’s inbound access it’s asking for by default, not outbound to the Internet. Essentially, SDR# wanted to open a port for listening and the firewall prompted you to approve.

Off topic but although I'm primarily a Linux user I've never ever paid for an antivirus subscription in my life for my "Win boxes". Surf responsibly and the free apps should do just fine. You're paying for extra bloat and nuisance notifications otherwise :ROFLMAO:

I know a little late to the party, but:
This could also be a plug-in that is requiring internet/network port access and not SDR# itself.
Since SDR# is the parent process for the plug-ins, it is what the "Windows Defender Firewall" will report as requiring access.
