Gretings, after Wings air rescue changing into the Highland emergency air rescue team I was wondering if Wellmont mereged with Highlands and then the Wellmont frequency was removed and then Highlands has their own frequency. If anyone has any info I'd like to know.

A grand question I’ve been wondering myself. I saw Wings (HEART) are (were?) using 855.56250 and 857.13250 for “dispatch” / “new dispatch”, but on NFM instead of P25. Seems rather odd to use plain old NFM on 800 since UT is using P25 Phase II on TACN - I actually heard UT today for the first time. Wellmont is no more since it was acquired by Ballad Health as far as I know; the medevac crew flying for Wellmont was given the option to fly for Ballad or to take another job within Ballad. Wings / HEART tends to visit my home county relatively often so I’ll have to add the frequencies to my radio and listen up for them. When I do hear them it is usually on the FD and EMS frequencies inquiring about LZ and patient information prior to arrival. Last time I was at Holston Valley dispatch I was told it was all moving to Johnson City; they were using TACN at that time, but I didn’t inquire about the air ambulances. They had a very exotic CAD.

If I hear Wings / HEART I’ll follow up.

I recently talked to a Lifestar pilot and if I remember correctly I belive he said that Greenville and another base are still Wings, I don't know if that is true and if it is true then I don't know if that would effect the frequencies.

I hear UT on TACN, but still haven’t heard anything on Wings listed FM frequencies. I’d say the pilot was a good source though.

Not that I know of. They aren’t listed on the TG list at least. If they were on a trunked system it would probably be Virginia STARS since they work in conjunction with the Virginia State 5-0. So if you have something that is P25 Phase I capable on VHF it might be worth a shot.
