I will be one of the ham operators working the Wings Over Houston show running from the 15th to the 17th. If anyone planning to attend is taking a scanner, I will post the 2 meter simplex frequencies that we will be using (will get this info closer to show time).

Note that this is just show administration/logistics stuff. Not near as exciting as the aircraft comms, but some people here have been known to ask for garbage truck frequencies. Our comms would be more more interesting than that. I hope.

edit: the public dates are 16-17 october. There is a show on the 15th, but it is for handicapped, by invitation only. Sorry about the misinformation.

Be sure to scan aircraft freqencies as, the Airboss is helpful to listen to if you want to get a picture of a particular aircraft.

Where is this show at? I'll be in Houston for the weekend to attend the fire show at the fire academy, and of course catch the playoff game between the Astros and Braves Sunday. Might have to slip in and try to catch the show if there is any military aircraft in it.

If not, I'll just wait for next years airshow in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Received the handout for comm volunteers. "Set your HT's to 145.500 Mhz simplex (no tone) for the Net Control frequency for the airshow."

Apparently there will be a few other frequencies for specific functions, such as medical, but we will be given those on site.

So did anybody go and take a scanner?

Saturday was a beautiful day.

Sunday was not so nice, at least not up here in northeast Harris County. Don't know what it was like at Ellington Field.
