i was wondering if anyone has compared the 313 to any other winradio specifically the g31ddc.i read the very few reviews of the radio itself on the net but no comparisons.i realise that you can only record a 20 khz bandwith wheras the G31ddc can do 2mhz. there is also the price difference the 313 costing more and being touted as a professional receiver.

im about to buy one for a fair price and this will be my first sdr and appreciate any thoughts people may have on this particular sdr.also is there any third party software out there thats free that i can use with this model?the one im getting comes with i beleive the win database so im covered there.regards,

As usual, it depends on your use of the receiver. I have the 313 and a G33DDC. Sensitivity is very much the same. Having the waterfall makes the 33 much the better receiver in my opinion. I like to look for unusual signals and un-listed transmissions. Being able to look at the waterfall and visually ID signals eliminates a lot of dial spinning. For scanning known frequencies and monitoring specific frequencies the 313 shines, hence I have both and a few other radios.
I have used WinRadio products for over 20 years and other than the fact that protocols come and go causing some radios to be obsolete, have nothing but good things to say about them.

hi,and thanks for your reply.as ive said this will be my first sdr receiver and it will be a learning curve for me no doubt.i really dont know how to use the waterfall ill have to read up on them and perhaps someday ill upgrade to a sdr with that feature and other features but ill still be able to see frequencies with the spectrum analyser on the 313 and click on them that way.this probally wont be my last sdr receiver but im starting somewhere up the food chain instead of going the dongle route.

fwiw ill be using it with a pixel labs pro 1B magnetic loop.i like to do alot of mw dxing and chasing pirates and it would of been nice to record 2mhz of bandwidth and come back later on and check out what i missed but im used to being by the radio and doing things in real time so for now ill just doing things the way i have been.
