Hey gang....

Curious if anyone has used this radio for scanning P25 systems (with the optional decoder add-on) and how it compared to the newer GRE's or Unidens. Thinking about (when I can) getting one specifically for use as a feed radio - seems to be a no-brainer as it would already be in the PC.

Pros, cons, likes & dislikes?

Thanks,

The winradio is a nice peice of hardware and the P25 option is acceptable. My experiance is that you have to have a dedicated computer to run the unit. This is fine if you are a service shop or site admin. Infact many of the features are ideal for monitoring a sytem or group of systems. If however you are just interested in "casual" listening you may find the winradio overly complex for just pleasure listening.

We have 1 winradio and 4 bc996t 1 996xt and 3 396t in our service facility. As you can guess 95% of our monitoring is done with the uniden scanners. We only use the winradio if we want to take a closer look at the off air signal for issues as frequancy drift , over or under mod etc.
