... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Thursday afternoon
through Friday evening...

* timing... snow will develop late Thursday afternoon into Thursday
evening. Moderate snow will be possible from Thursday evening
through into Friday evening gradually decreasing into Saturday.

* Snow accumulations... total accumulations of 6 to 12 inches will
be possible. Depending on the storm track... some locations could
see more than 12 inches of snow.

* Winds/visibility... north winds 15 to 30 mph... with gusts up to
40 mph are possible over the eastern plains of Colorado. Blizzard
conditions will be possible east of Denver with visibilities
less than one quarter mile.

* Impacts... snow and blowing snow may make travel difficult if not
impossible Thursday night into Friday evening.

* Other impacts... pets and livestock exposed to the harsh winter
conditions should be moved to a protective location before the
onset of this storm.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Travel may become extremely dangerous Thursday night through
Friday and is discouraged due to snow and blowing snow and
possible whiteout conditions. Consider delaying travel until
conditions improve later this weekend. If you must travel during
this storm... keep extra food... water... a flashlight... and dry
clothing in your vehicle. If you get stranded... stay with your
vehicle and wait for help to arrive.

You know, United cancelling flights is so commonplace now, it's not really a good indicator anymore IMHO.

Denver Post is saying up to 22" of snow. Guess my daughter won't be going to work tomorrow. Unlike last winter here in south Jersey, we've only had a half-inch or so.

There were some issues during the rush hour but things are doing much better, I think mostly because people are not on the roads.

Current eastern Colorado road closures:
Eastbound I-70 from Airpark Road east of Denver to Limon & westbound I-70 from Burlington to Airpark Road
US 36 from I-70 at Byers to Last Chance at Hwy 71.
Hwy 71 from Last Chance through Limon to Ordway.
Northbound US 287 from Eads to Kit Carson.
US 40 from Kit Carson to Limon.
US 24 from Falcon east of Colorado Springs to Limon.
Hwy 86 from Kiowa to I-70.
All closures above due to adverse conditions and full facilitates in Limon. Some limited local access in areas, check with local authorities.

Westbound I-76 remains closed just east of Wiggins due to a jackknifed semi. No estimated time for reopening.
