I know there has been a lot of interest around listening to the RadioReference.com feeds on the Squeezebox Radio so I would like to let you know that in the next week or so a new application called ScannerBox will be available. ScannerBox will give you access to all streams hosted on RadioReference.com, it will provide information about the feed status, number of listeners, and other feed information. The application will go on sale for $10.

In the next few days I will have the website up with more information.
Attached are a few images of the application to give you idea of what's to come.

WinMo versions?

I've been to Logitech's website and have not been able to figure out a definite answer to my question.

Are any of the Squeezebox models portable? I would like to be able to use it at any WiFi hotspot without having to plug it in.

Is anyone having issues with mysqueezebox.com being down today?

Interesting that one of the CNET review negatives was that the Squeezebox radio would not display the weather/Temp/Humidity. I found a third party app that does this and it works locally too. Another good one is the local time in 12/24 hour format with the moon phase, and another with the world map with grey line. You can have these play in the background when listening to a feed, stopped, or even when the radio is turned off.

Will I be able to save feeds to the Preset Buttons?

Yes & No, You can save feeds to the preset buttons, but it actually saves the direct URL to the feed and that URL can change at anytime. The only supported way will be to add that feed to the favorites menu in the application.

Interesting. So even if I browse to a feed using Scannerbox and save it as a favorite (different than the preset button) , it's going to change at anytime, so I'll be browsing for the same feed again?

No, if you add it as a favorite in ScannerBox you will not have to browse to the feed again. When you access the favorites menu in ScannerBox it will automatically provide the most up to date information about the feed. The 6 preset buttons to the left and right of the screen are the ones that may not be current.

Interesting about this app that shows the grey line, Dave. That's very useful information for hams and listeners working on HF. It's quite important to know what's in darkness/daylight so they know what areas of the world are possible to hear or talk with.

Not to toot the horn I just handed off, but if you find other apps like that one, please consider putting those links in the wiki - grey line apps can go in our HF propagation wiki. I found a SATCOM related link for IPhone/IPods which I recently added to our SATCOM wiki...

I'm thinking that the preset button should work the same as the favorite, depending on the library in use. Do you think this is something Logitech needs to address in their firmware, or is it a limitation of the Radioreference dynamic feed link?

Will do sir. It works quite well in situations such as the Haiti earthquake response feeds.

Well, when I click on the link I see this:
"The URL contained a malformed video ID." You may want to check your video link on YouTube.
