speed question

can you guys give me an idea of what down speed your Internet provider is giving you--i am maxed out here in the "country" with DSL @ around 1.5 down-
Do you think that is fast enough to use the squeeze box without any buffer delay issues??
thanks!

I think you'd be fine, Kelly. If need be, you can adjust the buffer setting in the Squeezebox itself.

ScannerBox Release ETA?

ScannerBox Folks:

Just wondering if you have a release ETA for the ScannerBox program? I'm looking forward to purchasing the program!

Thanks!

I received my Sqeezebox Radio yesterday, but currently stuck.

Can't Connect A firewall or other mechanism seems to be blocking your connection. Please contact your router manufacturer or network admin for further assistance or visit mysqeezebox.com.

I followed the instructions on the troubleshooting page for Win XP

Answer

But no luck and no firewall blocked msg.s?

My Sangean WFR-20 connected automatically with no issues.

Its looking like I may have to call tech support when they open in a couple hours.

The Squeezebox Radio want's WPK2-PSK initially. Not sure what you use for a wireless adapter, but if you connect directly via the ethernet cable, the radio should allow you to do a firmware update. Then all should be well. Keep in mind using WPK alone is risky these days and easily hacked.

If you still cannot get access then you need to look at the security settings of the adapter and your firewall.

Same thing happened to me, and in fact still is. I ws able to connect via wireless (and could ping the Squeezebox). The squeezebox diagnostics showed connectivity to on 3483/9000 to Home - Welcome to mysqueezebox.com!. However, it wouldn't connect.

I switched over to ethernet, was able to get further - downloaded/installed the software update and rebooted. Still no joy in actually connecting to mysqueezebox.com.

Spent time on the phone with them, have an open ticket. All firewall ports are open. I also run a Squeezebox Server instance on a machine that is connected via the same wireless ,and it has no problems connecting to mysqueezebox.com. And my Squeezebox will connect to the SBS just fine (which is how I'm listening to things now).

I'm waiting for support to call me back. They took my MAC address of my Squeezebox and tied it in with my user account that I had already created on mysqueezebox.com since the Squeezebox wasn't connecting itself. Still didn't help.

Anyway, the tech I talked to said the fact I could not get connected to mysqueezebox.com was not a network issue -- and that I had to wait for a tech to be available via escalation to move further with it. Said 24-48 hours before i hear back, and it's been 36 so i'll probably call them back.

Even though I'm "limited" by using it through my SBS (which really isn't limited but more full featured), I'm loving it. I set an alarm this morning with the foghorn on highest setting and it scared the hell outta me when it went off rofl. I thought a damned freighter was bearing down on my fast when it went off.

If you're running WPA PSK2 on your wireless router, you want to use AES encryption. If you are running WPA PSK, you want TKIP. That is what the wireless in the squeezebox wants to see.

Never had so much trouble, Squeezebox's Tech Support ends with that Can't Connect msg. First call ended with transfer to Linksys, Linksys transfered me to a 3rd party company wanting visa number to continue, that ended that call.

Squeezebox did tell me I need to open ports:

3483
9000
9090

Which I did in Applications and Gaming, but it still does not work.

I am using a Linksys WRT 150N Router

Anyone have any suggestions?

Did you try the ethernet cable direct to the router or the cable modem/DSL modem?

I am not sure that I am seeing the radio in the wireless client list, is the player id from diagnostics the same as the mac address?

If you can find the MAC address, it's on the box also. In the Diagnostics it should show the same number letter combination.
