Okay cool, thanx JGP. I`ve been listening on the Rib site and as of yet heard nothing `cept for a few radio keyups on TGID 105 (TECH TG 105). Sounds like the system is moving along pretty well, i know the site here gets out really good, at least here in the city anyway. N9NRA

I live in the City of Franklin in Milwaukee County. I hear the WisCom (Delafield) Waukesha P25 TRS.

These are the frequencies:

139.8625
152.7575
152.8400
154.9050
155.1300

I have heard TG's 103 and 105, but this TG 1 is a new one on ths system.

No, TG 1 is not new. Have you looked at the database listing for the system at all? There has been traffic on TG 1 from day one last year, albeit not very much.

I have looked at the database, and you are correct. I should have said, "I have seen TG 1 used for the first time on the system". I am just saying. I have never seen TG 1 used before until yesterday. I was just talking about the Waukesha Delafield part of it. It might have been used there before. I just didn't see it used until yesterday.

Thank you for pointing that out.

FYI....

Bennett switched to its alternate control channel 139.3625 MHz about 1600 today.

I also noticed Hillsdale had switched to its primary 139.2625 MHz around the same time.

Other than that, no new sites as of yet.

I noticed Baraboo also switched down to the primary 139.9625, the coverage is noticeably better at least where I am

I haven't been able to make a decision yet as to coverage, but it's a lot more susceptible to electrical noise than 151 MHz. Get away from the noise makers and everything is fine. Tomorrow I'm going on the same route that I was on yesterday before the switch so I'll be able to see if it changed much.

Also, does anyone know if there is a way to see decode error rate for a trunking control channel on a 396xt? I know about Func+Vol., Func+Vol. to get into P25 Condition Mode, but that only shows the error rate when decoding voice, not the control channel.

When Im indoors there is a lot more interference, but from my balcony (about 7 floors up with basically no interference) it comes in considerably stronger. This makes me think that WISCOM will be primarily a rural/highway system with links to the 800 systems in Madison/Milwaukee/Lacrosse and so on. The frequencies they use get some pretty nice distance but dont penetrate buildings/urban areas worth a hoot.

Read the notes on the right hand side of the map...the map was modeled using a receive antenna at 5.5 feet above ground and 0dB of gain; i.e. a mobile installation with using a 1/4w antenna. The system is not designed to have portable "on the street" or in-building coverage. Will it work indoors in some places? Absolutely.

Kimball developed a conceptual system design for the system utilizing the existing towers in place, owned and
leased by the State for the DOT and DNR radio systems. This data, verified by visits and supervisor input, was
entered into the Kimball propagation tool, which produced the resulting coverage map for the system. Results of
this study indicate that with 71 tower sites the State can expect to cover over 97 percent of the State from
vehicular-mounted radio with a power output of 50 watts.
Kimball was further requested to add nine additional
tower sites, not yet constructed. The results of an 80-site system are 98 percent mobile radio coverage, statewide.

Here in ILL on the Starcom on the 396XT u usually need at least three bars on the signal graph to "decode the digital without a dropout....

7700 is the Spooner Post. I bet you anything that is Lampson!

7700 and 700 are Spooner Post radio techs. I've heard 7700 a lot of the time working on DNR repeaters during fire season. Within the last week was the first time I heard 700.

It shouldn't be Lampson, not a strong enough signal.

Lampson is pseudo-online. Control channel is active on 139.8125, with System ID B0C and WACN 00001. However it is not transmitting a site number at this time.

I'm mobile on my way to Milwaukee right now so I'll be out of range shortly, but hopefully sfd119 can keep an eye on it and keep us updated.

FYI, I've been seeing 700 and 7700's rid's popping up on TG105 so I'm guessing they are working on finishing it.

Don't you just love mobile data....

Update from on the road,

I noticed my xt wasn't finding the Baraboo site a little while ago. Checked my frequencies to make sure they were correct, they were. So I did a search and found a new site # 202 on 139.1875.

I had a full signal in Sauk/Columbia County and it is dropping off now into Dane County.

I put in the 139.8125 as Lampson site but I'm not getting any traffic from the control channel as of 17:43CDT.

I heard the techs on the Shell Lake & Lampson towers today. Sounded like they were having issues with the Dresser/Baldwin towers affiliating with their Kenwood radio.
