What is the Wisconsin Emergency Services Group? I noticed they have a listing on the Dane County frequencies page.

Thanks!

Well, without hitting Google or anything I'd venture a guess that they are some type of REACT or GMRS group trying to sound important. It seems to be all the rage for these groups to be getting business-class licenses from the FCC lately. First the Madison storm chaser group, then the Milwaukee Area SKYWARN Association and now this. More power to them for getting licensed properly, but from the outside looking in it sounds like like some whacker group.

If I'm wrong about this, please correct me as I don't want to label something the wrong way and look like some of the other pompous a$$es running around on RRdC.

Wisconsin Emergency Services Group / Metro-Dane Emergency Response Unit

Frequency Input Type Tone Description Mode
155.16000 BM 141.3 PL Car-to-Car (Statewide) FM
461.92500 466.92500 RM 127.3 PL Verona FM
462.00000 467.00000 RM 156.7 PL Baraboo FM
462.67500 467.67500 RM 141.3 PL GMRS Emergency FM

Sounds as if they are using Radio Link's UHF community systems - possibly WPIJ432 - because that particular "group", using the name as listed and spelled by Stateboy, is not in the FCC database at the FCC server. Also, 155.1600 is licenced to The State of Wisconsin for 10,000 mobile units under KO-2099, so whatever the group is doing, it "probably" has State backing... (? - opinion based solely upon available data.)

KO-2099 is part of the Wisconsin State Patrol system for MANY mobile statewide frequencies...

Now ya got me curious too... LOL...

That's the difficulty with RadioReference when the submitter or database administrator doesn't include the callsign associated with the frequency data.

There are several sites with Dane County frequencies, so while it may have been logical to *assume* it was the page here on radioreference, the possibility exists that it could have been elsewhere.

In this case there would have to BE a license first. I suppose they COULD be operating under National Ski Patrol auspices...
