WLN KD-C1 now has CHIRP support

Late last night, I noticed that CHIRP support looked like it was finished according to the logs. I just now had time to try it out and it seems to work great.

Thanks Jim Unroe and all the others who worked on it!

I haven't submitted anything or had an extra radio to loan yet but keep hoping for Alinco DJ-500T (2nd generation) compatibility. That would mean that our entire stable of radios could all be programmed with CHIRP.

Again, thank you all for the hard work in bringing us this versatile software compatibility!

No doubt the WLN software works well. It's compact and I've only noticed one bug under Win XP.

I run WLN on XP Pro, what 'bug' did you encounter?

I DO have a problem with CHIRP on the XP Pro, ERROR 5 can not open port on USB cable. Does the same on Serial port Com 1.

If I close the channel window and try to open a file, WLN crashes. It's a minor bug and only presents itself if I forget. The program is so small that it reloads rapidly so it is a non-issue for me.

CHIRP has never crashed on me; XP Pro or Home. If the only radios we had to program were KD-C1, we would stick with the factory software as it works great. We like CHIRP for uniformity amongst our group.

I had it say "radio cannot enter programming mode". After a couple tries, it worked...but downloaded what looked to be the factory test load....weird, since, I had mine already programmed. A couple more tries and it worked perfectly.

Subsequently, any operations on either of my radios, performed flawlessly.

There were no program crashes....I just attribute it to "one of those things", shrug my shoulders, and continue on.

If the radio is occupied, like saying "power on" or the frequency is busy (and breaking squelch), I've seen this and other radios not go into programming mode until after a couple of tries.

That's possible. Either way, no biggie. It may take a few to wake up. I'm not worried. Thanks for info

Out of all my radios, only one has no chirp support. I have far to many radios . I love the cross platform capability.
