I bought a radio for my use on the departments and I don't think I can enter DPL codes into my radio.. I have other options such as offset direction, offset frequency, and CTCSS code, but I cant seem to figure it out..

I can't even listen to it i guess without entering a DPL?? Anyway to get around this?

you will be able to listen in csq.mode <carrier squelch>.two problem's however:

1. you will not be able to transmit <if authorized to do so>.
2.you have to listen to any other radio traffic on that frequency from any other agency/agencies utilizing that frequency.

Unsure of the radio's brand... :/ but it says UHF FM Transciever. It has the UHF frequencies from 400-470.

I am now able to listen to my dispatch but I can't seem to transmit. When I go down to my local FD and key up on departments radio, I can hear it on my radio. But when I key up from my radio I cannot hear it on there's. Now If I push the monitor button on my FD's radio and talk on my radio, I can hear it... Really confused on this one... :[ ANy help?

This can be easily remedied by giving the radio to the radio shop that handles your FD's radios and have them program it.

That's most likely a HAM radio. Not all HAM radios have DPL ability. Also, if you -are- a firefighter I hope you do not use that radio on the job. Use a radio issued to you by the dept.
