Looks like multiple TG's are in use for this evening's fireworks display in Port Reading. I got a new one: 1004, which is unconfirmed as Special Events 1. Anyone else verify this? Was referred to as Ch. 13.

Looks like we have a new TG for the system in use: 14077 in the dreaded ENC mode. I wonder what this is used for; perhaps a new town/agency to test for future migration?? Ahh, a new challenge for us to uncover...

Were you monitoring them on the old primary of 453.225? That means they might have shut off the simulcast from the TRS, and you'll need a digital trunking scanner to hear then...

Heard them last night on 453.225 (simulcast from the TRS).

Yep, still with PL of 114.8. That is a permanent setup for now. If it craps out it might not be replaced but I think it would be since they use it for comms with adjacent PDs' cars if they need to talk to Woodbridge. Easier to use than going thru the Hotline.

No need to buy a new scanner yet - other guys here on the forums confirmed that the simulcast is still up. Maybe an antenna problem on your end? Are you still receiving other radio traffic?

I can confirm that they did indeed have the simulcast from the Digital TRS to analog UHF OFF at some point recently; however, it's back up and running at this time. I would keep the analog scanner for now if it's just the PD you want to monitor. They need to keep that patch in place for Edison and other agencies to cross communicate (interoperate), which they have already. But you may want to put some extra $$ aside and save up to buy newer equipment at a future date... :)

Is it just me or is the audio on the P25 system uneven? By comparison the Jersey City trunk is much more clear and consistent. I set the audio offset on PD dispatch to +2 because the volume on the trunk was so low. Then it came blasting in. This was in the Edison and Highland Park area, so distance shouldn't a problem.

The audio is much better on the conventional channel patch.

Yep, it's back up. FWIW, they don't "need" to have the patch up. Like many other towns do they could use the Hotline, but I'm glad the patch is up. It's nice to know what's going on in your own darn town.

I'm staying in Edison, so I don't. Unless the FD or EMS is involved at least. I was at a Dunkin Donuts on Route 1 this morning and five or six Edison cruisers were at the luxurious Beauty Rest Motel doing something. No idea what and they all left after a few minutes, but it bugged me that I couldn't tune in and be nosy.

Question for Woodbridge monitors.... are they using "channel 2" like the old analog ch2... for the computer (dl checks, etc.)? Thanks.

Channel 3 is used for look-ups, and Ch. 2 is used for alt. ops and auxiliary police main ops. Ch. 4 is used for aux. police special events and Ch. 5 is other event ops (traffic detail, etc.)

Thanks GM. Looks like I'll keep using my Motorola to monitor WPD ch1, Clark and Rahway PD's.

Folks, looks like a few new TG's have appeared on the system, and again in ENC mode. Unknown what agency is using them at this time:

14076
14080
14082
14089

Earlier in the day today, I heard a new TG testing on the TRS: 14085 in P25 clear mode. Sounded like a Fire Dept. testing "new radios" and from what I heard, they were very satisfied with the test. I would think that since they were testing on portables, that it would be Carteret, Perth Amboy, or South Amboy testing them out. Anyone with "contacts/connections" with these depts., may want to inquire with them to see if indeed they are making the switch to the Woodbridge TRS. And if so, well looks like we have more stuff to identify... :)
