In September or October, Sioux City Police and Woodbury Co. Sherrif
will move to a digital system. Since Racom,s EDACS network is currently
in use I am fearing that it may be going ProVoice. Let's hope not . I am trying to find out exactly who is installing the system and what the frequencies may be. I'm looking for any info on the system in hopes that
my future monitoring capabilities won't be drastically curtailed.
thanks,
Kenny

Poking around on the 'net, I see that the county got a $6 million homeland security grant and has retained a consultant to design the system. It appears that they will leave RACOM for their own new system.

"The County has entered into an additional consulting agreement with GeoComm to have [GeoComm] be the lead consultants on the acquisition of an entirely new, interoperable and region wide emergency communication radio system."

thanks Eric, Your post has given me a place to start.
Geocomm site gives me some clues as what to expect.
"GeoComm's radio project implementation team is staffed by recognized industry professionals, all APCO members in good standing, with an average experience level of 25 years in public safety communications system design and operation. " I'm waiting for our local Ham Radio Club
Meeting Tuesday night to see what more I can learn. Took me a long time to figure out the EDACS system Freq's and LCN just before I found them posted on the web. Now I have the experience and resources of the area's Hams and A.R.E.S. members and the resourses of this fine web site. Thanks again,
Kenny
