Interesting Find

ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - WQSV950 - WOODWAY, CITY OF
New license issued to Woodway. I don't know if it is part of the trunked system or something else.

These frequencies used to be used in the original trunking system. Prior to them combining Fire & PD, which were using two different call signs, the previous CC's were listed in each of the licenses. Now, they have combined these. Here is a previous hyperlink which is still active: ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Trunked License - KBJ926 - WOODWAY, CITY OF - Frequencies Summary

But, I believe the marine band plan is different from the link I included.

At present, I am in West Texas, far away near Midland. When I get back, I will plug these into my Pro2042 & monitor them to see if these are being used again for simplex, digital or analog. It is possible these will be used for surveillance or something. They have been less than forthcoming with their radio fleet map. I'm afraid if I were to submit a freedom of information document, they would move to encrypt.

Unlike Woodway, Waco PD was very cooperative & helpful with the fleet map. Waco PD gave me the form letter to submit. There is a huge difference between the two agencies. Woodway is way over the top for policing their high-maintenance residents who have "all the money." LOL.

Woodway Update

Recently, I ran Pro96Com and found the frequencies I previously identified, after they changed to marine frequencies were still intact. The recommendation still stands regarding the frequencies listed in the RR DB. If I were loading an intuitive scanner, I would include all of the operating frequencies listed.

Yesterday, I heard someone talking on Woodway 2 or TG2. The context of the conversation centered around erecting a tower. Odd. I am still doing my best to figure these people out. Typically, these cops are very stealthy or they seem to think they are so. They tend to creep around in the dark.

If you are caught in their headlights & do anything differently, they tend to attribute such behavioral variation to deviant action.

A more comprehensive evaluation of the neighborhood would show me riding the same way almost every night. LOL.

I have had a rather wary relationship with this agency as you will see if you review my many posts. On the other hand, when I dealt with the Waco PD Public Information Officer, he was extremely helpful. He forwarded the wording needed to obtain the fleet map associated with the new P25 trunking system they were installing.

He stated that Waco PD wanted people to monitor their transmissions with the exception of DEU & Special Ops, which is understandable. He said Waco PD wanted the public to hear the funny, scary, & difficult things they encountered on a daily basis. In essence, it sounded like he wanted to strengthen the bond between citizen & cop.

On the other hand, when I asked for the frequencies associated with Woodway's new system, they were completely closed-mouthed about it. They morphed into an official-sounding demeanor. So, I don't know how they would have responded to an open records request.

Woodway seems to be a high-end operation. I still laugh when I remember seeing that patrol car with a FLIR mounted on top of the light bar. Yes, they have all of the high tech toys. From what I've heard, the officers have triple certification. I still don't know what this means, but it sounds impressive.

I still find myself laughing when I think of the last time Woodway stopped me on my bicycle. He asked me if I lived in the apartment complex. I told him where I once worked, TDCJ-ID. During our conversation, he asked, "is that a scanner? You know we are going to digital, right?" I said, "yes, I've been analyzing & documenting the installation process. Key your mike." His jaw dropped.

At present, I will continue to listen & learn. Do you know much about the structure of the Woodway system? As I previously wrote, I had Pro96Com operating when they made the switch to marine band frequencies. Hence, I could see all of the system frequencies. At present, they are only using four of these frequencies. They are still being heard on the analog frequency of 155.88.

I would appreciate you sharing any insight you have with me about this agency via PM.

Once last thing. Do you think they are aware of this thread?
