Hey emtLarmey or FFJeff what is up with this new alert tone in Worcester fire dispatch? Is this a permanent alert? Sounds terrible.

I agree it sounds absolutely HORRIBLE. I believe it may have something to do with the new high band alerting system they are putting together for us. I will try to find out more when I can.

emtLarmy15,
Thanks for the input. I only have one radio, out of too many, now with Worcester dispathch on it. I would put Worcester back on the rest of them if they would change there alert tone. Just can't stand it.

I didn't attempt to paste that article, but I believe that's an article about OC Communications becoming a back-up for Worcester 911.

The answer I got about the warble is they are going away from the Zetron two-tone paging box that sits beside the console and paging from the console itself. They listened to all the tones, and told me there are far worse tones than what was selected. It will be the current tone for at least a while, because they have bigger fish to fry right now, such as getting our High Band Pagers online, and getting the Shore Wide N-Tac system up and running.... So Thats the best answer I can give ya.

On a related note; what is Worcester County using for their fire/ems dispatch these days? I have a couple of 46 mhz freqs, and I know 46.36 was Ocean city (now 158.895, I think), but what about their other freqs?

We are still using 46.380...going to high band dispatch in the very near future

Thanx - do you know what the new high band freq will be? That way, I can kill 2 birds with one stone when I change the fire/ems page.

From What I have been told, it has not been issued by the FCC yet... So I don't really understand how they have been testing the new pagers unless they are just using a spare high band freq... But as soon as I know, you'll know.

Hey Chris,

Just curious why they would add a high band frequency when they have digital radios now.

Fire Pagers...Low Band is what we currently operate on and it's at best horrible. We get alot of problems with Skip ect on the lowband, and also Low Band equipment is slowly becoming obsolete, and its more expensive then High Band...Hence the switch.

Our EDACS system is actually mixed Analog/Pro-Voice...Pro-Voice is only used by Police.

Looks Like The New Frequencies will be:

155.100
155.865

Worcester County was issued a License for these on January 6, 2005. When I was at the Department of Emergency Services on Tuesday or Wednesday, I asked the 3rd in charge if the Freq's had been issued and he said, "It should be any day now."
So I am assuming that these are the new frequencies.... only assuming. I am also going to assume that 155.100 will be the dispatch freq, and 155.865 will be the Silmulcast of Fire 1, Fire 2, and Fire 3. As far as I know, there are still no plans to Simulcast the EMS talkgroups.

As soon as I know definitive information, I will post, and submit for addition to the database.

Good job! Now, let's also find out if these freqs are using a PL or DCS.
