This is really a favor from someone moving to the area, however to work in Montgomery, what's a favorable place to live in the area? I've been told that Montgomery is very expensive for new housing so any suggestions would be appreciated. PM me if preferred (likely better for the group)... and thanks in advance.

fl-dj, take a look at the washingtonpost.com website. They have lots of real estate listings for the area. Combine them with a map of the area from mapquest.com and you'll get a pretty good idea of what's available and at what price. I know that still leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Finding a place to live from outside the area - especially if you're not familiar with it is a difficult task.

Thanks all... I've enlisted the help of a couple of realtors for this one... was hoping to make it as simple as my move to my current location where I was able to do the entire thing on the net, but this area is a little tricky, seems that I'm gravitating towards the Fredrick, Hagerstown and even WV areas to get the amount of home that I need and the size of property that I'd like. Ideally if I could find a nice sub-division with 1/2 to 1 acre lots and newer homes going in around the area that I could buy at a low price say under 350k now knowing that they will go up in a couple of years my life would be easier but for now I'll see what the realtor, realtor.com and the post can offer.

Montgomery County is a nice place to live but it can be VERY expensive. A good inexpensive place to live is most likly Gathersburg or Germantown in Montgomery County.

I Have a Picture in My Mind what you are looking for, a Nice Big Home on
a Huge Piece of Ground...There are some Properties about What your Talking about...But Thier More less in The Howard County Area,Howard County isnt Really That Far From Montgomery County... The Smallest Home is about 2200 Square Foot and Largest Home is around 3300 Sq.ft.
Price Ranges are about 170,000 to about 300,000...
