You get what you pay for.

Such a radio might be a good first unit for a youngster but I'd not recommend it for anything other than listening to standard broadcast radio (BBC Radio 2 etc).

It is NOT a "scanner" and as you'll see from other threads on here there is very little to listen to in terms of police comms in the UK now.

Go for a 2nd hand scanner on ebay like a old uniden/radioshack that can actually have memory and digital display.

with that you will tune it to everything like a standard radio.
