Would a "whatever I'm listening to" feed be okay?

Just curious here...

I've been thinking about setting up a second feed for amateur radio / weather spotting activity. But most of the time there simply isn't much if any activity for either of those, only when things get "interesting". It'd be a rather dull feed most of the time!

I am working out the kinks to feeding ID tags with my stream, and wondered if having a "general scanning" feed where I could just set whatever was of interest to me at the time would be okay since with the ID tags at least listeners could see just what they were listening to at the time. I could also update the status line on the feed so people seeing it in the listing would know what's on.

It wouldn't necessarily be something that changes all the time, primarily switching when something happens to cause another group of frequencies to be more interesting.

In the end, I have to run an icecast server at home to get the tags in the stream (convoluted process, I discuss it in another thread) so *I* don't need the feed here (can ssh in and listen direct) but this would be the scanner I set to "weather spotters" when the storms roll in, and perhaps others may find it interesting...?

Amateur Radio, SkyWarn, ARES feeds are all OK.
We have several like these.
I do an ARES / NWS S.A.M.E. feed. I call it Special Event 1.

I would not recommend a feed "What ever I want to scan".

We like some details.

However, we have Special Event feeds.
These can be more vague as they are intended to what comes up.

Then perhaps what I have in mind would be okay. I'm not one for randomly going all over the map when listening. "Whatever I'm listening to" would actually fall into a relatively narrow range of items - primarily local PD/FD and various ham frequencies. A large portion of what I listen to regularly is already taken care of with my other feed, so in reality there wouldn't be very much switching.

I guess mostly what I'm after is being able to say in the description something like:

"When the weather gets severe, listens to various spotter groups in the state. If the weather isn't bad, may be tuned to other ham radio frequencies. May also get tuned to various area PD or FD agencies if something interesting is going on."

The quandry here for me is deciding which scanner to use. I really like the idea of ID tags, makes it easier to follow what's going on if multiple channels get busy. But to do that I have to use one of my PSR-600s. If I'm going to use that scanner, I really don't want to have to leave it fixed to a relatively small number of frequencies that are going to sit idle most of the time. If I can have it scanning other things during the off times, then not a problem.

You would NOT what to use that description as the feed description.
You would put that info into the feed info section that you can do.

A feed description may be something like:
Name County Special Event: Amateur Radio and SkyWarn as needed.
Name County Amateur Radio and SkyWarn as needed.

I think you can get the idea.

Then in the feed info area that you control in the feed owners page place what you want to further explain the feed.
