Here im Middletown last night 3 cop cars pulled over and searched a vehicle right outside my condo (thats now for sale). I couldn't get any of the comminications at all and not even through dispatch. Could signal stalker have helped in this case.

Also I was in New Haven today for a Dr appointment at Temple street. Afterwards I went to the top of the parking garage since I had time left on my parking stub. There were cops with sirens blasting all over the place passing by the car park but I couldnt get any communications beyond basic dispatching of unrelated incidents. Im just wondering if also signal stalker would have helped here also.

Thanks

Chances they are on some 800mHz trunking system. You would need to post the type of scanner you have. I use Signal Stalker 2055 with a MAXRAD dual band VHF/UHF antenna with GAIN. The range I get just blows me away. I run it beside my BC-796d in my pickup.

Actually I have a PRO-99 and wonder if I would have bougt a PRO-97 would it have made the difference. I understand most trunked systems near me are digital. I have a BCX895XLT that may get NB Motorola system.

My thought is that I should maybe trade it in for a PRO-97 but only if it would have made the didtance in these 2 particular situations. I'm up herar on a 4th floor loft and can get Southing Police and West Hartford FD which is pretty good being in Middletown. I'm really not interested in trunktracking analog and digital scanners are out of my price range for what I use a scanner for.

Ide be better off purchasing a PRO-83 and have 2 scanners.

nhpd is on

460.1000 Det/Records
460.1500 Tactical
460.4500 Dispatch South
460.5000 Dispatch north

what you might have been hearing is Yale Police Department
460.5250mhz,

they do alot of response around that area being yale property,

there should be no reason that you wont be able to hear middletown pd either on 155.370mhz,

New haven does use XTS3000 UHF radios which do have the capibility to go digital, but i dont think they have the plans anytime soon to go digital?....

they might have switched over to the tactical channel 460.1500 or it could have been the yale police department or the new haven fire department/AMR?...who knows?....also i dont know if you listen to Cmed,
keep an eye on 462.9750mhz, you will get alot of info on that system, you may want to keep an eye on 463.1500mhz, that is med 7 for the inbound ambulance to yale ER,

AMR in new haven still uses 47.5000 low band freq for dispatch, i haven't heard of any switch over i belive?.....

i have tons of freqs for connecticut, so let me know if you need anything,

Thanks South

What was puzzling me is that I have all those frequencies programed in and didn't get anything related to all the close by action I was witnessing. Ive spent lot of hours with the win-99 program plugging in all frequencies in my area from printouts of HARTFORD NewHaven and Middlesex counties plus more from books I have.

I just noticed tomight I was able to follow a police chase on NB trunked system fairly easy with the conventional scanner but it was probably an anomoly.

What I am finding out is people are mainly using signal stalker to find unliscenced frequencies for stores and fast food restaurants etc and not much else. Im sure that get old fast listening to employees argue.

I am getting quite a bit up here in this loft using the RS sputnick antennae and there is a possibilty that it was the street crimes unit that pulled over that car and use either cell phones or digital communications. Dispatch has told me they do use special communications when I was inquiring about a previous incident I mentioned in a previous post.

But if you have frequencies in my area that are non published, I would like to program them in.

What I do miss is the Cab company in the Hartford area whose cabbies were always rejecting jobs if the area was bad and were fighting with the illegal cabbies who scanned theirjkobs and picked up the customer before the actual legal cab driver arrived. I'de love to get that frequncy again but they seem to be off the air now.

Thanks

Chris

alot of communucations use Marcus's system now which is LTR passport, i can track some of the system conventionally, i use it to track Hunters Ambulance, i dont particulary like the LTR Passport system, but that's life.....

if you are looking for anything particular, let me know, because i can do a search, but i would need a certian name of an agency, company Ect,

about the special communications, most likely it is nextel, some agencies also use Nextel Mobile radios that look like regular mobiles, they work just like the phone, but look like a motorola radio, they could be using an iden network,
