• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I just bought the Wouxun UV-9D Mate from BuyTwoWayRadios.
It is a great radio, but it has some issues I noticed immediately.
I have other Amateur Radios on 2 meter and 70cm and this is the only radio that breaks squelch with CTCSS Tone Squelch Set on several frequencies with data sounds.
It sounds like DMR or the old Packet Data Bursts or GPS Location Information.
The other radios hear none of it.
I programmed the scanner part of this radio for 470Mhz band to listen to police and fire. Several of these frequencies break through the Tone Squelch with the same sounds.
It don't hear it on my Yaesu, Alinco, Kenwood and Icom Radios.
I know this radio become Mr. Static on most frequencies when near computers or other poorly shielded equipment.
Because this is also poorly shielded or some low end issue.
I am pretty sure this is System-on-Chip (SoC).
The display, as I knew before I got it, is almost useless in sunlight. I am okay with that.
It has some really advanced features, but anything that breaks through CTCSS as interference is very strange.
Does anyone know how something could open up CTCSS just from interference??
Thank you in advance of any advice or experience with this type of issue
...I do know this is a low end radio, but sometimes we have to try something different...

This is typical of consumer grade toy radios based on the low cost RDA MicroElectronics chipsets. Zero front end filtering, intermodulation rejection non-existent, low/muffled transmit audio.
In short, a piece of junk with a colorful plastic case.

The reason why your other Alinco, Icom, Yaesu and Kenwood rigs work is because they are REAL ACTUAL RADIOS, most of them are probably traditional dual conversion superhet front ends with ceramic filters that don't overload in the presence of out of band RF, and don't sound like a bag of smashed buttholes either.

CCRs are hash and trash generators too. Now you see why they say "you can't polish a turd"
