Engine 10 and district 4 on a fully involved structure fire 132 E Latimer but what really caught my attention was engine 20 and 32 on a MVA with several calls at 169 southbound between 71st and 81st. The motorcycle is apparently on fire with fuel on fire on the roadway. A car has driven through the fuel and is now also on fire. Im glad I stayed home tonight its been pretty interesting on TFD and TPD (long pursuit with TCSO and OHP) sides!

Update @ 0453

Wreck is at 6900 southbound.

Ladder 20 now assigned to divert people off 169 to the 61st exit, Engine 20 (169 command) is advising Ladder 20 that TPD wants the highway shut down. Im pretty sure this is gonna be a fatality if not a multiple 30.

In an ironic twist I found out that the guy on the bike (whom deceased at the scene) was a friend of a friend AND that last week his buddy hit a semi and died in nearly the same place!

Has anyone seen the pics of these wrecks floating around? I have a set of three that shocked me. As a Firefighter and EMS employee I never sent fataility pictures to civilian emailboxes. Poor families..

I saw some today.. pretty gruesome. Biker vs. rear of semi at 120+ mph is not cool.

I saw the pictures today at work. Does it make me a bad person to say that for as much as I would like to pinch out a tear for anyone who suffers a horrible death, I can't seem to find genuine compassion for people who do themselves in while in the pursuit of naked recklessness?

There is a place where arrogance and self-indugence meets immaturity and bad judgement. And 120 into the back of a simi IS that place.

Since this kid clearly embraced the notion of "live fast, dye young," all I can say is THANK GOD he's no longer a danger to the public roadways and THANK GOD he didn't take anyone with him.

Good thinking man, it could have been alot worse. I thought some of the "kids" in tulsa would learn a lesson from both of these deaths, but as I stand outside a tulsa nightclub last night at least 15 bikes come down sheridan doing AT LEAST 80 on ONE WHEEL. It happens every summer, just wonder how many will die this year doing something stupid.

On a side note, does TPD have a task force essentially for these packs of bikes roaming the streets stunting? I would love to scan that talkgroup and listen to what all these idiots are doing.

Sounds like OHP needs to bring the Busa's to T-town for a little while. ;)

It's not like these kids don't have an alternative to racing on the street: I see 100+ bikes every saturday night at the Midnight Drags.

Interesting personal story. When I was young and stupid I had a really bad driving habit. This was back in the 55MPH day. My average cruising speed was 80-85, regardless of traffic or conditions. I took a lot of chances. Liked showing off and "scaring" my passengers. My excuse was that I was that "the masses are asses" and since the laws were written for the masses and I was a bit smarter than the general population, I didn't have to worry too much about anything other than those pesky cops (by the time I was 22 I had been pulled over about 40 times—only 3 tickets, though. Go figure.).

One day at college a friend of mine showed up at school with an old blood and guts Driver's Eduction movie from 1959 called "Signal 30". He found it at a garage sale. The guy who sold the movie to my friend did such a good job of warning him how gory it was that by the time we actually found a projector to watch it on, the entire event had become one of those "do you have the balls to watch it" kind of things.

Quite to my surprise, the movie had a life changing affect on me. Not only was it gory, but it did a great job of expressing the stupid senselessness of reckless, arrogant and careless driving. It really was like the cold, heartless narrator was talking directly to ME.

I suppose the kids now days are so desensitized to that sort of thing that it wouldn't have much of an affect on these sport bike idiots. But I wonder.

Here's a link the some of the Highway Safety Films, Inc. movies, including Signal 30. They're downloadable and of good quality — incase anyone has someone they think would benefit from watching them.

Enjoy. I guess.

That was required watching when I was in school. (many, many years ago) lol!

When I was a EVOC instructor we used an updated version, can't remember the name, but it was done in the '70's and was poorly made.

IMHO, Sig 30 was rather tame compaired to reality. Glad I'm indoors working now...

I caught the call just after it switched over to the TPD tactical TG. I would guess that the photos were released from the semi drivers company photographer. I remember hearing that a company representative was at the incident location to photograph the wreck. I doubt that anyone from the police or fire departments would release anything of this nature.

NO! the company rep was allowed to photograph the scene once the body was removed. HE DID NOT take pictures while the body was still there.

I bet the pics I saw were taken by an emergency worker on their personal camera. I know a few that carry one while on shift (never done it my self).

BTW, check out my new avatar :D

Public safety personnel use that term as well for people who are not associated with Public Safety.

They are using that incorrectly, and it is a diservice to those in the Military........
