WPUNJ(on PSE&G) Motorola analog System...May soon be off of it

I was talking with a dispatcher last night, who dispatches for WPUNJ, and they currently are on PSE&G’s analog system.

He mentioned how a few weeks they brought down the system for supposedly a “short” period of time. It ended up being hours. Anywho, he said they’ll be getting off of there.

Wonder where they will be? Perhaps would they join NJICS? Willy P is located in three towns...Haledon, N.Haeldon, and Wayne. Haledon has its own conventional channel, N.Haledon police P25(only Pd), and Wayne is their own P25 Phase 1. Can whoever updates RR please be on the lookout for this?

It would make sense for them to migrate to the new p25 system. When I went to Willy P a few years ago, a campus police officer I was friendly with told me that they switched to the PSE&G system because their facilities/operations department was getting excellent coverage inside the buildings on campus that they weren't getting with their convention set-up.

It’ll be interesting to see. I know an officer, when break is over I’ll talk to him and see what he knows/heard.

Apparently, PSE&G has a tower on campus, and also uses the water tower. No wonder coverage is so good.

Guess they won’t go back to conventional.

For anyone else wondering, I FINALLY just heard the Dispatch TG active. First time since break hearing them.

Also, since break I’ve been hearing a big jump in use of the Public Safety interops System.

So far I guess they’re still on the system.
