I was directed here by a dispatcher/writer on an author list I belong to. I just need some local police codes (don't know if I'm saying this right or not) that an officer or detective would hear from dispatch for "shots fired". By the way, my story is set in Nashville.

Thanks in advance.

I think you can still get a copy of Metro Police codes from Electronic Adapters, (previously Brink Electronics), a Radio Shack dealer on Gallatin Road in Nashville, TN. Telephone number is 615-227-5441.

With the exception of 10-4, you will very seldom ever hear them say the 10 portion of the 10-codes. For example, you will just hear 83 for shots fired. It seems to be part of the overall effort to minimize voice traffic.
