I just uploaded two YouTube videos to compare the 1080 vs 436HP on P25 (LAPD) here in Los Angeles.
Both are recorded on each scanner so you can hear the audio without dead spaces in between. Judge for yourself the P25 decode quality. To me, it actually sounds pretty good on both units. This was done using my outside 2 meter/440 Mhz vertical antenna up 30 feet, which does pretty well for UHF scanning.
I stated a couple of weeks ago that the 1080 was in no way a match for the 436HP. Well now that I have used the 1080 for a while (never had the PSR-800), I really like many of its features. I have discussed this on other threads. The audio quality on the 1080, as on my other RS/GRE scanners is really good.
