So I have been working with my radio for a few days now and many issues with the software running on Windows 8.1 and Windows 7.

The software seems to be very flaky and giving me a lot of slowness issues and locking up and freezing. Very strange behavior to which I can't really understand and explain.

For some reason today I could not program the radio nor format the SD card onboard via the USB cable. The SD card got corrupted and for the life in me I could not recover any data or get anything to work. I thought I might have a bad SD card.

I took the card out and put it into my home computer and formatted the SD card using FAT32 only.

I was able to re-program the card with no issues and it was really fast. I guess whenever I need to do any programming or tweaking on personal preferences I will just take the card out and put it into my computer and by pass using the USB programming method.

Something is just not right. Anybody having the strange behavior of the software just not performing right??

Going back to the PSR-800 doing any actions via the USB cord to scanner was always very slow and quirky. That is why it is suggested to do all SDCard programming using a card reader and not directly through radio.

All of this family of radios (1080, 800, 668, and now I guess 1095) work the same way. Much faster just writing directly on the card as opposed to usb cable.

This is nothing new and not a,quirky 1095 issue.

You can do all DB work directly on the card, but you need to be able to connect the scanner via USB in order to do any firmware updates.

Oh yeah. I just figured it out today and it works really nice. I do like how Whistler used the standard size SD cards not those micro size SD cards. Most laptops and desktops these days handle the standard size SD cards nice.

Its so fast to program my radio now. Just un-clip the face plate real quick and its nice and easy to remove the SD card. Very happy

Which Whistler uses the standard sized SD cards? My 800 uses the micro cards so I need an up converter to stick in my computer slot.
