I'm looking to get back into scanning. I live in Los Angeles Ca I believe I need a scanner with p25 phase. So will WS1065 fit the bill. Thank You.

There are a couple of systems in the LA area you might want to monitor, but are Phase 2 and not available on the WS1065, including LA-RICS and CWIRS.

Also, there is a new LAPD (future) P25 Phase 2 system in the database, if they make the change to that you will not hear it on the WS1065.

If you can afford it, I would recommend getting a P25 phase 2 scanner. I got a WS1040 as my first scanner and I was really pleased with it. However, I do regret not spending a little extra to get a different scanner that has P25 phase 2 capabilities. For right now, phase 1 scanners work just fine and you won't miss much, but, several areas have or are transitioning to phase 2 systems. If you plan to be using it for a while, I would think about getting a P25 phase 2.
