I can't find a place in the EZ Scan software to set/change the "delay" time before the radio begins scanning after the end of a transmission. Is it possible to set this value; and, if so, where? What is the out-of-the-box, factory default delay time setting?

Thanks

Each TGRP/Frequency has a Dly setting. The default is 2 seconds.

Following is how it's done on the GRE version of EZ-Scan, I believe it's similar (if not the same) on the Whistler version of EZ-Scan.

To set/change the "delay" for conventional frequencies select the "Conventional Frequencies" tab and change the values in the "Time" column like this...

To set/change the "delay" for a trunked talkgroup select the "Trunked Radio Systems" tab. Select the Trunk System you want to make changes in the "Trunked Radio Systems" section. Then select the "Talkgroup Details" tab in the "Trunked System Site Information:" section. Then change the values in the "Time" column like this...

The default setting is 2.0 seconds as can be seen in the above images.

Hope this helps,

I'm curious as to how you do the yellow highlights. They look "real" as in "by hand". For me that would involve:

Take a Screen Shot (while in EZ-Scan) (requires Screen Shot software)
Save Screen Shot to Desktop (as JPEG, etc.)
Print-Out hard-copy of Saved JPEG (requires printer)
Highlight Print-Out in Yellow (by hand)
Copy/Save Print-Out (requires scanner/copier machine)(as JPEG, etc.) to Desktop
Copy/insert Highlighted JPEG from Desktop into RR Reply Box

I'm guessing you know a better way?

Thanks!

EZscan

I believe the default setting is two seconds. On the EZscan program, click on trunk systems or conventional talkgroup, highlight the alpha tag you want to change and then double click the time, from the drop down box you can change you time setting for all or just one.

WS1080 EZscan delay setting

@ rwier - I'm guessing the yellow marker can be done with Microsoft PAINT itself or any good image manipulation program with the "brush" settings like pixlr's website or GIMP using air-brush tool* or Photoshop. Maybe even Picasa, I haven't used that in a long time so maybe it's changed too. If the color is lightened enough the dark letters show through. YOU take a screen shot in Windows on your keyboard by pressing the
** PrtScr/Sys Rq ** button up next to scroll lock. THAT copies the desktop. YOU then open Microsoft paint and hit "PASTE" into the white area where you can smudge it up and draw circles in different colors, then save it as a png or jpeg. It's an easy way to highlight next to or on something. In Linux desktop there's a photo tool to capture the screen shot and you could use GIMP. My favorite in GIMP is selecting the brush and it lets you highlight with Green Peppers? for some reason.

Win 8 has a Snipping Tool app that does screen captures and has the hi-liter tool.

A-ha. And here Windows 8 takes such grief. It's a good way to capture and show what you're explaining. I wish EZScan was as versatile, especially when coming to large batch editing of lines. YOU have to score each line while holding Ctrl, can't drag and score or select "all" if you want to change all the delay's or AGC or other category. Unless there's a way to do it off the program and import it *as I see there's text and import buttons.

Thanks for the compliment.

Actually I used the snipping tool built in to Windows 7/8. It's a simple tool with a built in pen and highlighter. But for quick snips it very quick and easy to use.

In EZ-Scan you can select all lines by first selecting one line and then pressing Ctrl+A on the keyboard. This will select all lines. Then you can edit all lines at once. If you only want to select a range of lines, for example lines 10-20, you can select line 10 then while holding down the shift key select line 20. This will select lines 10-20. While those lines are selected, you can then add additional lines by Ctrl+clicking on more. Then you can change all those lines at once.

WS1080 EZ Scan Delay setting

Thanks. I knew there'd be someone with a way to do it. I like to change delays and Ab/AGC and other things since I have over 650 conventional objects and almost the same number of trunked talk groups assigned to different scan lists. I'm still learning this software as I used to have Win96 for years. Found that snipping tool on my Windows 7 side too. Never even used it before.
