Perhaps there there's someone that could help. I can not do any firmware or library updates for my ws 1080.
I have tried with a windows 7 PC but no luck. The driver does not recognize that the scanner is plug in to the computer. Or there any links for a windows 7 driver that would work or info on this ?

I had a similar problem. Most of the solutions involved scanning the SD card but I didn't have a card reader at the time.

Though a little tough to find, I located these drivers on the whistler support site:

https://www.whistlergroup.com/usa/updates/

Use the far right tab "Scanner Radios".

If I recall correctly, I had to shut down and reconnect the scanner once during the procedure, but Windows 7 eventually recognized the sd card as a drive and I reinstalled everything and updated.

Oh, and bought a USB card reader almost immediately.

Good Luck!

I had a buyer who had a WS1080 and was programming it fine then one day it didnt recognzie the scanner anymore..... he was knowledgeable and tried everything (re-formet card) re install drivers etc tried on a different PC but nothing worked

If you still cant get it to connect after trying EVERYTHING else call/email them for technical help, or it may need to go back to Whistler for repair.

It could be a unsigned driver issue. With windows 7 push F8 key when starting computer and go to boot option to "disable driver enforcement" and then remove driver and reinstalled, sure get a message in red that states driver being unsigned and then click OK and sure work. Assuming scanner not the issue, which could be defective.

If you have INF file easy way to install it is, right click on that file and click "install"

I have a cousin who is knowledgeable with PC computers and he is going to help me out. Im going to have him try what retropcdos suggested about disabling driver enforcement. I have tried everything else up to this point now if that does not work ill send it back to whistler for repair. It is still under warranty. also last night when trying to do updates an error 3-00 code came up on the scanner when I was trying to do the firmware update does any
one know what that could mean ?

I am happy to report that the problem has been resolved. I was able to do a complete update for my WS 1080. Im not exactly sure what my cousin did to solve the problem but he worked his magic, and now my scanner works with the EZ scan program. I know he did a lot of troubleshooting with some good old research.
Thanks to everyone for your help.
