I have a 996P2 and would like to know if there is a setting that I’m missing. I would like for the scanner to resume scanning after the “duck farts” at the end of the test or warning. The best I have done so far is to alert on any received NWR transmitter which is fine but, it remains there until I manually tell it to resume scanning. This is my first attempt at using a scanner to monitor and alert on NWR. I could use my existing weather radio but I really don’t want to split my antenna feed due to some fairly weak 800 channels being scanned

Thanks In Advance

I can't speak specifically to the 996, but in general, when set to weather alerts, when an alert is received, the radio stays there to allow you to hear the alert if you don't happen to be near the radio when the alert occurs. You normally have to tell the radio to go back to "normal" use.

The above applied to my older Uniden scanners and my 2 dedicated weather radios.

BTW... I like your description of the end tones as "duck farts". Very original and true. 👍
