I am looking for WY. Highway Patrol freq's. My son and I will be driving his vehicle from Southern CA. to Iowa before his Marine Corp deployment, and being a former state trooper, now a city cop; I would like to scan the highway patrol freq's if possible.

There is a system of WHP repeaters across the state on 155.445 (using different tones). See Highway Patrol Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference. The state is slowly converting over to WyoLink (Scanner Frequencies: WyoLink: Statewide Interoperability Matrix Trunking System, Statewide, Multi-State) so you'll want to program that also if you have a digital trunked scanner. Good luck.

The Cheyenne area is on WYOLink right now and the 155.445 is not used at east in the Cheyenne area. Semper Fi from a former Marine having served 92-96 at Camp Pendleton. Trunking scanner is best for WHP.

I get a fair amount of WHP traffic from between Cheyenne and Laramie on WyoLink. If you don't have a digital-enabled scanner (I use a PSR-500), you won't be able to pick them up on the digital channels.

Not sure how much has moved over to WyoLink thus far, because I know when I was up north to Casper at the end of April, WHP traffic was still on the conventional repeaters.

I still have the old WHP conventional frequency programmed into the XTS5000 but its never been active due to the fact that WHP went to WYOLink as well as WYDOT. I hear some other talkgroups on wyolink from time to time such as when they had that tornado NWS was on talking a bit here and there but for the most part that's the only two agencies I hear so far. I have line all four towers in my radio and can hear beacon hill sometimes but mostly Cheyenne and Cheyenne south are the ones that I pick up. cant really see the tower north of Cheyenne so I cant hear it as much.
