If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anyone know how to delay the start of a BOT PTT ID on a x180 series kenwood?

On Icom software, they call it "PTT ID Delay" where you can adjust the time from key down to the sending of the MSK in fractions of a second". But Kenwood calls a different behavior PTT ID delay which I don't fully understand the prupose of but needless to say it's not the same thing as it measures the delay in full seconds..

PTT ID is getting cut off by the repeater so I need to set it back a little, maybe 100ms.
I can't find anything in that will let me do that short of putting the ID at the EOT.

I'm thinking 13669 helped you on the issue you were looking for help with, but FWIW, "PTT ID delay" on a x180 is how long the ID or alias stays on the screen when you receive/decode it.

Under the MDC 1200 menu-

Parameter-

Data Transmit Modulation delay time- Default us 400ms

You can adjust the pretime there

That did the trick. Thank you so very much.

Actually, what I was referring to said "PTT ID Pause Time" not "delay" so I made a mistake there but that was what I was talking about. Seems like a logical thing to call what I was looking for but it says "the transceiver does not send a PTT ID if the transceiver transmits again during the time configured for PTT ID pause time after the transceiver transmits and returns to the receive mode if PTT ID pause in the cahneel edit window is enabled. The transceiver sends the PTT ID after the time configured for PTT ID Pause Time elapses." It's probably a really easy concept to grasp but how it's written is clear as mud.

The programming feature reference document is much better translated than the help file that comes with the software for trying to figure out things like this.
