Wasn't there an UPMan 1-5 listing on the x36 development a few months back. Anyone have the link? I believe were still on V1.

If I recall correctly the phrase was something along the lines of "we have a roadmap for this platform stretching into 201x" ... I don't remember if x was a 6 or 7 or 8.

The only "V1" I see is where a version of the Siren App was mentioned, not a list of the "roadmap".

Jay911, that would have been the #6.

Some people have very short memories.

Head phone jack issue identified by end users - Uniden issued a repair campaign for affected units.
WiFi dongle had driver/firmware issues - Uniden beat on the supplier until they came up with a fix. No doubt UPMan lost some sleep over that one.
Some of the features were slower to show up than ideal - Uniden is still working on that and my guess is that much of the delay is due to resources being diverted to the RTC issue.
RTC issue - Uniden first issued a work around update and now has another repair campaign to update the hardware.
Dim display issue - My unit was fixed for free even though it was well out of warranty and I wasn't the original purchaser. Uniden is also checking and fixing any units that have that during the RTC campaign.

They've issued firmware updates to correct firmware issues. I for one am really happy with the turn off replay feature. I'll like the serial port feature when it's corrected, but haven't seen a problem with my 436HP display light timing yet.

I don't know what sooper dooper new feature is going to be built into that release. It doesn't really matter because the usual suspects will start whining and complaining about it within 30 seconds of it being released.

BTW, none of this is typically what a company that's about to go belly up does. Typical is more like what happened with GRE, a vague announcement, support pretty much disappears, and owners are left with orphaned radios. Fortunately Whistler stepped in, but even that is pretty rare when one company acquires another.

It's happened more than once across many different industries.

Found it. http://forums.radioreference.com/2366713-post36.html

V1 = main scanning functions, LAN only
V2 = addition of Analyze
V3 = addition of Full Menu capabilities for all functions
V4 = WAN capability
V5 = still a secret

As disappointing as these scanners have been, and me needing a DIN scanner for 5 more trucks, DMR is the Only thing that would make Uniden be on the face of them. Playing games with grown adults is damn Silly tho. If these scanners worked as the box said I could see it... but they do not, so don't keep piling up the bait.

You guys are so gullible.
The announcement is a new line of scanners with features that actually work.

I am looking at the box my 536 came in, and wonder what feature you speak of that is "on the box" and not working? Not trying to troll, I genuinely am curious what was written on the box you purchased.

I don't know, I'm pretty happy with my 536. It's been in my truck for almost two years now. I can't complain. DMR would be a pretty sweet add on though.

I would hate to see if these people were in a FORD GM MOPAR forum. I can just see the crying MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE GOT STUCK. MY CAR BURNS GAS, MY TIRES ARE FLAT. I for one have had very little trouble and it was nothing a little maint on my part fixed. But my 536 and 436 hear circles around my PRO668 P25 is clearer and has better range on my Unidens than my GRE/WHISTLER built PRO18 and PRO668.

Good for you but that doesn't mean those with RTC or LED issues are not legitimate complaints. Also there is a whole world of android users still awaiting the initial release of the app that was announce 2 years ago. We're all happy that your scanners hear circles around all the others. Your probably one of those who feels the app is not important to your use and you use remote computer software so you don't display or the brightness settings. What is missing or not important to you may be important to somebody else.

Could not think of a better way to say it myself. That REALLY gets to the heart of the matter
