We were discussing the Xcel system at the meeting yesterday. They are going to be switching to APCO P25, but I don't know if they have switched yet. I would suggest that you program all of those channels in and try monitoring them in a conventional manner. If they are still analog trunked, you will hear them, but you won't trunk track them. If that is the case, go back and program it as a Motorola analog trunked system.
If they are received on the scanner, but are APCO P25, you should see that on your display. In fact, you should even be able to determine the NAC Code. In that case, program it as a Motorola P25 system.
It is possible that it is an APCO P25 Type II system and, in that case, your scanner will not be able to follow it. Try the above and post back hear. We should be able to help further.
Confirmed voice traffic on the Xcel Energy metro 800 MHz analog system today.
Currently Xcel is switching to vhf p25 for areas outside the Metro 800 system, uhf Mototrbo is used at the metro generating plants, and right now they have no changes applied for or approved to switch metro 800 from analog to digital.
