Hi all - A few of the keypad buttons on my XG-100p are really difficult to press. Has anyone cracked one of these open to clean the keypad contacts? If so, any advice on disassembly, what to watch out for, etc.? Thanks!
Keypad is integral to the front housing. You can't access the actual flex with the dome switches to clean it, as the entire keypad is ultrasonically welded into the housing; same goes for the side buttons.Hi all - A few of the keypad buttons on my XG-100p are really difficult to press. I just ordered a new housing so hopefully the transplant process isn't too difficult. If anyone has torn one down and has any advice, please reply. I see 1 T7 and a bunch of T9's gets you access to the inside, then it's a matter of what to pop off from where to get the guts swapped. This is just a symptom of an old, well-used 100P. I know that others here have complained about this and afaik, nobody has been able to fix it. :-(

New London Technologies has a few stock of new housings in grey/black, and all black, just for the asking ($100/$200).I suppose the replacement housing is salvaged from another radio(?)
Ya, sounds like they disassembled NOS to help the 100Ps that are in service stay that way.New London Technologies has a few stock of new housings in grey/black, and all black, just for the asking ($100/$200).
I have a loose pogo that I want to address ASAP while the unit is still working - hoping it's a simple dab of solder or epoxy.Ya, sounds like they disassembled NOS to help the 100Ps that are in service stay that way.
That’s awesome! Keypad and battery pogos are the biggest complaints.

Great advice, thank you! Anything else I should know when cracking this open? I took the back cover off to inspect it but didn't pull any of the boards yet.The 100P front covers they have are brand new never installed. I think they were probably sourced from Harris during the dumping of all 100P parts. I had one with a broken glass and lcd. Got it fixed very reasonable with all brand new parts. Don't forget to get the plastic off of inside the glass, And also make sure you get the little rubber piece for the front microphone from the old cover into the new one. Your radio won't sound correct if you don't. It will be very muted.
No part number, just a description: "UNITY XG-100P FRONT"What’s the part number?
No problem - I thought the same, so pulled the trigger - and it will be brand new, which is even better. Thanks, for the information regarding the XG-100P that’s a pretty good price that NLT is listing it for it beats paying someone for a parts radio.
Hey - I saw in an older post that you had some experience with knobs on these, or at least the instructions for removing them - any advice you can pass along?Ya, sounds like they disassembled NOS to help the 100Ps that are in service stay that way.

The knobs *will* come off, but very likely if the housing is old and well used the inserts will crack and break during knob removal. I'd recommend if you are already buying a housing and decals, to just buy a knob kit.Hey - I saw in an older post that you had some experience with knobs on these, or at least the instructions for removing them - any advice you can pass along?
Thanks, I was thinking that too - and why not go with the oversized if you're already committed. I was hoping that someone has done this before and may be able to provide guidance on the tools and techniques to reuse them successfully. The knobs *will* come off, but very likely if the housing is old and well used the inserts will crack and break during knob removal. If you are removing the knobs the only required tool is a set of pliers.Yes,that's the official L3HARRIS recommended tool. If you are installing the knobs and they have the inserts included, you just push them down onto the knob shafts. I don't believe NLT still has any remaining stock of the oversized knob kits. Thanks, I was thinking that too - and why not go with the oversized if you're already committed.
