The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi everyone,

i recently programed 2 systems into my radio and system 1 takes forever to lock on to the site and acts as it supposed to. system 2 doesnt even register. the 2 systems are almost identical systems. i guess what im asking is this normal behavior? or have i completely missed a step somewhere as this is the 1st time im programming a harris unit.

If it just stays searching for control channel, check your NAC. RPM fills out a default NAC based on the sysid that may not be correct. The RRDB has NACs by site for many (most?) systems.
I assume (and hope) you set registration timer to never.

Yes first thing I did was set both to never. I’ve looked and based on that I imputed the information into the mission plan but my main concern is the time it takes for the radio to recognize the system

If these are simulcast systems, make sure that "Linear Simulcast" is checked.
Are you using Fixed ProScan for the roaming type? Even if you are trying to setup RSSI based roaming, Fixed is a good first troubleshooting step since it keeps it simple. Note that if you use Fixed, the NAC, RFSS and Site IDs must be 100% correct.

I am using linear simulcast and i have fixed proscan checked. ive double checked the information via RRDB and secondary sources all believe the 2 site ids are correct.

How many frequencies are programmed into the trunked set? Even the current production XL-200p takes some time if the trunked set has a lot of frequencies.

Can you show your WA Network sets, does the SID match what the decoder found? Motorola is notorious for using a different NAC from the SID which can cause some confusion.

Hmm that all looks correct. The next testing step would be to verify its not an issue with the radio and program the same personality into another radio to see what it does. From a programming perspective, that all looks to be correct.

I've never used the Adaptive Filter checkbox before... could try taking that off.
On the system that doesn't want to work... trying setting Roaming to Enhanced CC (edit the Band Hunt frequencies to only cover what that system uses). This way if it finds the proper SYSID and WACN it should lock on regardless of your NAC/RFSS ID/Site ID settings. If that doesn't work I'm thinking there is an issue with frequencies or your IDEN set.

Most of the forum post I’ve read here and in other spots is that TDMA Adaptive filter and linear simulcast need to checked but I’m willing to try anything to make this work. I can pm you my email address to kind of discuss this further.?

I've got multiple simulcast systems in my radios... never checked that box before. And yes, feel free to PM away.

I would change Rensselaer to fixed scan until you figure out what is going on...just to simplify things. If your radio doesn't have TDMA, you might want to uncheck the TDMA box just to be sure it isn't causing some kind of conflict when it programs the radio with a feature it doesn't have (you didn't list it in your previous post).

It's possible you have a radio issue. Another thing to test...can you program a couple of the voice channels as P25 conventional and see if you can decode (hear) the P25 voice traffic cleanly and without any issues? Both systems are fairly busy and shouldn't take too long to hear traffic. If not, you may have a radio issue, such as the receiver drifting off frequency enough that it can't decode the P25 packets.

thats a good thought as i didnt even think of doing that. also a few nights ago i was able to receive Rensco system fine for about 30 mins then lost it was even sitting in an open area and couldnt get it back and still isnt back. same thing with albany the radio sees the system but wont decode depending on setting i think im going to have to build personality w/ albany in it test it narrow it down and do it that way for rensselaer.

Do you have P25 ProScan enabled on your feature string? It is option 6. If that is not enabled, Fixed ProScan will not work at all.

I pulled my hair out on one before. It worked fine if it was normally affiliated, but using NAS and ProScan, it would not.
