• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I just stopped by and determined that the same error shows up with no cable connected between the head and radio body.
Substituted a generic ethernet cable and it came back to life so the Harris cable is bad.
You may want to make note of this.
I have seen this message many times. The correct power connection would be to connect the CH and MRU to 12vdc hot unswitched.
The 2 white wires would be connected to ign sense or a chargeguard since if the white wires are connected to unswitched 12v . the batt will die in a week due to a constant current draw, even when the radio is off.

With that said. , if you connect all the hot wires red and whites to a bench power supply, make sure the radio is switched off. Then once the 12v has been switched on first, wait about 15 sec and turn the radio on. If you don't, you may see many different messages. They can and usually appear. This is when you are in trunked mode. You can power right up in conventional with no issue.
Back to the ip addr unnassigned appearing. I have found if you leave the power all connected and disconnect the 3 prong power connector to the Control head and reconnect it , The control head restores and all is well. I have worked on about 100 or so XL185/200M in the past few months. I have seen many "Unadvertised Features."

2 control heads can be daisy chained without a hub. 3 or more require it.

I CANNOT WAIT for that HHC. We use the Keypad mic and that makes things much easier. Got to see the HHC at at IWCE..

CORRECTION……With all power connected and the control head on- disconnect the power by unplugging the 3 prong connector at MRU (Radio) and reconnect.
