• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

So good new is I have everything working now. I need to get things sorted so the radio will connect faster, one of my counties I listen to takes almost 30 minutes to connect. The Enhanced CC is what that county is set for so I have to fix it to connect faster. Thanks to everyone for the input and assistance with this.

XL-200P, so using RPM2.

Set RF power to RF safe. Lowest possible.
In P25 systems data pages,
Set power to low, auto registration to never. Unit registration to never.
Advanced P25 user login set to no login suppported IF relevant. Leave alone if not.
Misc options, uncheck all except TDMA capable if it's a Phase II system.
In sets-p25 groups, uncheck TX, uncheck Calls. For Every group.
Leave system NAC to default/0. Don't need it for RX.
All references to site ID need to carry the correct site number. It's usually the same for all entries of site ID numbers, for any given system.
I haven't found a relevant data inhibit checkbox for P25 system data. Where are you seeing that?
So the tx safe I'm not worried about because I have tx disabled completely, including any kind of registration or anything like it. The NAC when I leave it on 0/default then it won't work to listen.

It's just my habit to drop TX power as low as I can get it. How do I KNOW that there's not a firmware glitch that allows the radio to TX under certain conditions?
In the case of an XL radio it's also set to wipe and reset if the power-up password gets muffed five times in a row.

True, I'm not sure if disabling TX on mine actually does disable it, I don't want to test it by hitting ptt. I might try it to disable to on a different channel and check to see if I can tx or not, but a project for another time.
