BCT programming 101 conventional system.

If someone can please walk me threw and tell me how to put a freq into my scanner.....pleaseee!!! i wanna here sullfolk fire...and scpd thats it.

1. Turn on scanner
2. Wait for Welcome screen to finish loading
3. Press "Menu" button.
4. Note that "Program System" is highlighted. The big Chrome Knob is multifunctional try turning it to the right and left. You see it scrolls up and down the menu items. It also acts as a selector button by simply pushing it. So back to "Program System" highlighted and press the big knob once. If you make a mistake press "menu" it's like a " go back" button.
5. Turn the knob to highlight "New System" then press the knob in once.
6. Now select the type of system you want to scan, in your case probably just a conventional so highlight "Conventional" and press the knob in once.
7. Now you are asked "Confirm? yes or no Hit the "E yes" button just right of the 0 button.
8. Now the scanner has created a system and you can begin changing a few things about the new system.
9. Your first option is to Edit the name of the system. We'll leave that alone right now and get right to the freqs loading.
10. Turn the knob to highlight "Edit Group" press the knob in once.
11. Now you see "New Group" highlighted so press the knob again once.
12. A short "Processing Please wait" message will occur.
13. Then turn the knob to highlight "Edit Channel" and press the knob once.
14. Now you have "New Channel" highlighted. Press the knob once.
15. Finally we arrive at "Input Frequency" Go ahead and press the numbers you want to scan and use the ".no" as your "." decimal point. and after you have pressed all the numbers in the frequency press "E yes"
16. A short "Processing please wait" message will occur. To add more freqs now is the time to hit "menu" and highlight "New Channel" then repeat step 15.
17. Ok you're set now press "Scan / search" button and you will be scanning the freqs you entered.

In addition, I see there is a Suffock, NY. Is that the stuff you want? In that case you need to program it as a Motorola Trunked System not Conventional. The very best and I highly suggest this method, is to sign up and pay for Radioreference Prem subscription. Best $30.00 you will ever spend, trust me it saves time and your time is worth money.

Then go over to butel.com and download a trial free version of ARC15.

While running ARC15 CLICK THE TOP TAB "INTERNET"

Log in to Radioreference by entering the user name and password. Follow along and import your suffock system as you need. This way saves soooo... much time entering freqs and talkgroups and alpha tags. You could be up and running in a few minutes as apposed to hours of frustrating time consuming methods.

By the way I don't work for Radioreference I just really like saving time and giving honest good worthy advise to fellow scanners.

It's alot to do but you'll understand as you learn this thing. The "easier to understand" guide is very helpful too.

I just received the same scanner for Christmas and it was already preprogrammed. How do I take Cities that aren't even close to me off it, how do I program other frequecies, also I have 9 and 10 bank that I can't access and was wondering how I can program my frequencies to this bank?? Sorry for all the questions but my last scanner was a Realstic Pro 2021 and it just seemed alot simplier. Does anybody have a GOOD website were I can get more frequencies?

read read read ,search google..yup things sure have changed..I too am back from a long absence from scanning..I love the new technology very cool.

You HAVE got to get IMHO a computer control program to use this scanner to it's fullest, I have my laptop sitting here next to the recliner and it's just been fun playing..learning everyday.

15 views no reply....common...no one wants to help a bro out?

You're at a better ratio than me...my first post is still unanswered after 36 views. I also replied to another thread and it was deleted!

Glad to hear you figured out the programming!

The BCT15 is the MOST OBNOXIOUS RADIO I HAVE EVER OWNED. It is the most agrivating thing to attempt to program. I understand those who don't like the multi BS menus. Such a waste of time. The orginazation is rediculus.
