I have a Windows XP Pro computer that I still do some work with but do not have it connected to Internet/Network. I bought a USB Data Transfer Cable Assuming I could just transfer files from back and forth like a network drive. Apparently that is not the case. I was hoping someone could assist me in setting up a connection or shortcut. I have transferred files with "Windows Easy Transfer" but that seems so time consuming. I'm looking for something that is much easier. Any Assistance would be greatly appreciated

do you by chance have a router that supports NAS? Network Attached Storage?

you can, connect that XP Machine to the router, but lock the WAN outbound/Inbound traffic to it. thus preventing it from connecting to the net. you will still be on the LAN which would give you access to the USB Based HDD ( if the router supports a USB HDD Connection to it as a NAS Drive ) then giving all your computers on the LAN the ability to share them.
