If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am attempting to update an XPR 2500 I recently purchased, but am running into issues. I have both CPS1 and CPS2 installed, as well as all the firmware I could find for the radio from my Motorola Solutions account. The oldest firmware I was able to find was M2022.01 under MOTOTRBO NA Devices and R02.10.10 under MOTOTRBO NA Professional Devices. In CPS, I receive a message that "No matching package(s) exist". The radio is running R01.00.30. I believe I am missing some firmware which would let me update this radio to a newer version, but cannot find those versions online. CPS2, as expected, reports no firmware/codeplug (Unknown).

What is the firmware package you installed? The 2500 has a different firmware package compared to any other TRBO

Unless I am misunderstanding something, R02.10.10.0001. It's showing as NA XPR 2500 firmware R02.10.10.0001 under File Description. I am unable to find anything older than this build in the Software and Licensing area.

that is ancient firmware. you can try to update it to 2.10 and use CPS2
Both CPS1 and CPS2 do not recognize 2.10, or anything slightly newer when I try and update this particular radio. I believe I need an older firmware, but those do not appear to be available in Customer Hub under Software and Licensing. This is my first time updating an XPR 2500, although I would've expected it to be the same process as the other stuff I've programmed/updated in the past (CM200D, CM300D, 3500e, R7, 5550e).

R 02.10 is what's going to be the highest you can go without purchasing a SUM from Motorola. SUM's cost money.

You would need to use CPS16 to bring your firmware up to something closer to R02.09.0001 before you could "Update" to R 02.10 using CPS 2.

"Update" is in quotes, because you would not necessarily be gaining any actual features or functions. What is it that you wish to gain by going through all the trouble to update?

Motorola will not assist with CPS 16, as it is no longer supported. Prior firmware packages that work with CPS 16 are no longer supported or available online through Motorola.

I'd be happy with R02.09, although I'm seemingly having a difficult time finding a 'matching package' when I attempt to update to that version. I have no problem purchasing SUM for the radio if it provides a way for me to update past R01.00.30, as everything I have tried thus far does not match. I understand there are no features or benefits to updating, I simply would like to update to something that works with CPS2, since that's we use to program our various MotoTRBO devices at work. We do not have anything with SUM, so I am not familiar with if this would provide me with the firmware I'm missing, or just allow me to update past R02.09.

You would need to use CPS 16 (I think you're calling that CPS 1) in order to bring the radio up to a newer level of firmware. The highest you can get to with CPS 16 is R 02.09.0001 Find that firmware package for NA XPR2500 mobile. Install the firmware using CPS 16.

Once you are at that point, you could then read/write the radio using CPS 2. You could also "upgrade" to R 02.10. If you want to "upgrade" beyond R 02.10 to one of the newer firmware packages like that M2022.01 - you would need to purchase and activate a SUM. I don't think any sane person would bother to do that.
