If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi I have a motorola xpr 3500e and mo matter what coast time or auto mute duration I put it always seems to give a small bleep instead of the regular chirp any suggestions or help
I've tried the standard 275 and 150 still not consistent. once in a while will it give a full Chirp and when it does its usually when im farther away from the other radios. seems like the farther I go the more chirp weird

No I’m trying to have it make the standard mdc chirp
But it’s weird. It seems like the farther away a radio transmits a signal the more of a chirp it is, but the closer a radio transmits a signal to my xpr the more it’s a half chirp more bleep sound

How would that give the chirp you kinda need an mdc selected in the rx to have the channel decode mdc
(Ps using cps2.0)

Because youre muting it with the MDC System. Disabling the system will not mute it at all.

Try setting everything to 0

I’ve done that and it just lets the full mdc burst come through
The main settings that determine the chirp settings is the dos setting options

You want a chirp on receive, or when you transmit?

Is the system using beginning of transmission (BOT) or end of transmission (EOT) for MDC? Are you scanning? If you want to hear the MDC, either turn off muting to decode unit numbers, or disable the MDC system and just put the channel in as an analog, both described to you above.

The base transmits eot and so do the other radios
All I would like to hear is replace that awful mdc burst when the base transmits or another radio for the regular well known chirp sound
I’ve tried playing with coast time ans auto mute duration
I’ve tried all the commands 150 ms 100ms and 275
And just never seems to be accurate like I said previously the closer the signal the more of a bleep it is the farther the signal the more of a chirp it is

So you want to mute the MDC, but hear an EOT chirp similar to the talk permit tone? I'm not sure how to set that in Mototrbo CPS, or if it's possible.
