• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

How to do this : A job for Two XPR 5350 s: I have 2 Siemens PLC, A and B , 15 km apart. Rural location, no cell service. I surveyed from A to B using CM 200 450-470 band. Coverage is good, 85 dB fade margin from A to B. PLC A and B need to exchange data via IP. Maximum data speed will never exceed 9600 bps ( just input status being exchanged).
I want to use Two XPR 5350’s , in digital mode, to act as the IP Bridge between A + B. If an Alternate Motorola Digital Radio will do better, please recommend. How do I do this ?
Thanks , David

Not going to work. MOTOTRBO radios do not exchange data that way. Any other ip backhaul solution will work before this one will. Microwave, Free Space Optics, long range wifi, etc..... TT

Look at narrowband IP solutions such as 4RF’s Solutions.

MotoTrbo has a Telemetry mode, and will perform well in a PLC environment, they're just not going to do it via IP protocol.

see here: https://cwh050.blogspot.com/2014/06/mototrbo-application-simple-telemetry.html

There are also 3rd party developers who can/will interface software systems with MotoTrbo for a price. Most times they've done what you're looking for already, and if not, they'll quote you on a customized system. I prefer dealing with Tallysman Wireless, but there are others.

Only thing with that is actual throughput is closer to 4.4 kbps.

Hard to answer since you did not indicate what area of the world the project is - so you may get a great answer, but it may be unworkable for you due to regulatory constraints.

Based on the USA, there are a number of dedicated data radios available in the licensed and unlicensed bands that will transport 9k6 with ethernet or RS-232, or you could cobble together some WIFI wireless bridges, and put something like Lantronix UDS-1100's on each end, which will also talk RS-485 as well as 232 if you need a serial connection.
