• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is this radio capable of doing "Connect Plus Trunking"? I was advised by Motorola tech's that it is not and only the xpr-6550 with an option board installed would be able to be programmed for this type of system such as the One Voice UHF network that we have here in NJ. Any help or insight would be appreciated.

It just needs the option board, unless your not in the correct frequency range.

M297, Thanks for the reply. I am not sure why the tech's at Motorola Solutions told me that the XPR-6500 series radio's are too old and would not be able to do Connect Plus Trunking? Do you know for a fact that they can or do you have units that are in fact programmed and connected to do same? They said the XPR-6550 series, the later model would be able to accommodate this feature. I believe the board itself is part# PMLN5496 and retails for approx $100. Then you require a Connect Plus license entitlement through either a dealer or if you have a MOL account, part# HKLN4457 which retails for approx $30. Along with the above, you must have the regular' MotoTRBO CPS which I already have a license for, it is version 11. I was advised by another member I would also need to purchase the Connect Plus Option Board CPS, but I am not clear if you get that as part of the entitlement, or if it's a separate part# and purchase. Hopefully you can expand on this or someone else will chime in. I am located in NJ and want to be able to utilize the radio's on the One Voice Network. My radio's are UHF 450-512mhz band #2 so they will have no problem if programmed correctly. Comments welcome!!!!

I have a 6500 on a connect plus system currently and it works fine. I also have 6550's as well. Only different I see is the 6500 doesn't have gps.

Mine are in the 403 to 470 range though.
