• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

We recently programmed 4 XPR3500 radios (Firmeware is R02.08.05.0004) with the Flexible Receive List. There are only three channels in the list. We also added Voice Announcement to these three channels and to the Flex Rec On/Off button. The users now complain that they are missing calls when the Flex Rec list is on. I have witnessed the missed calls when my XPR7550 is stationary on one channel and the XPR3500 radios are in Flex Rec On mode.

Is it possible that the Voice Announcements are overloading the memory or processor? The radios have 50 Cap Plus channels and 25 talk-around channels.

The flexible RX list will only work if your radio is on a CP channel (talk group). It has to be listening to the control channel (rest channel) in order to know when a talk group goes active. You cannot be on a "talk around" channel. In addition, you should not be using the same frequencies as T/A as the repeaters output. Not that you are but to me, the term talk around generally means the repeater output as opposed to a simplex channel. How many talk groups are in your list? All 50 ?!?! I do not believe there is a way to set any one talk group as a priority.

gotta fess up,

I missed checking the Flexible RX List box under the Menu Tab. Checked that, Cloned the radio and it started receiving the calls. The radio was on a C+ talk group but not one in the list (only 4 talk groups in the list for our supervisors to monitor) The List can only contain 16 talk groups.

I mentioned the 50 talk groups to reference how much memory the radio might be using.

The Flexible Receive List feature is to the Capacity Plus trunking talk groups as the Scan Feature is to Conventional channels.
