• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued.     The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Anyone else with a 5550 have a very noticeable difference in volume levels on analog vs digital? I'm finding I need to have the volume ~50% in my vehicle to hear it comfortably... but if a digital channel keys up it just about blows my ear drums out!

I'm running the latest firmware and I have the RX Audio Levelling EID enabled, however turning it on/off for analog doesn't seem to make much of a difference. Can't seem to find any other settings to boost analog only audio. I also have a 7550 and it doesn't seem to suffer from this at all (or not nearly as much at least). I've spoken to a buddy who also has a 5550 and his observations are the same.

I am experiencing the same here. Maybe it's to do with how the radio processes the incoming signal. A lot of volume issues are normally on the transmitter side

It's very strange, and extremely annoying... To the point where i'm contemplating pulling the 5550 and putting and XPR2500 back in. Analog sounded great on it.
