To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi guys, I have two XPR5550s. One of them is a XPR5550e and I'm using the latest version CPS 2.0 to program it and the last version of firmware for that radio. No issues with that one at all. I have a second one that is a XPR5550 and here are the details:

model: M28QPN9KA1AN
Firmware Version: R02.06.33
Codeplug Version 04.03.08
Bootloader Version R02.06.10

As you might imagine, It only works in CPS 16. CPS 2.0 will not read it. None of the firmware updates that I have applied to CPS 2.0 will allow me to upgrade it. I started a case with Motorola for the heck of it to see what they would say and of course they no longer support that version. They suggested that I find someone that still has the legacy firmware update files around so that I could go from R02.06.33 to R02.10.10.0001 to get what I need to upgrade it. They knew the last version of firmware for that radio but no longer get involved which is understandable.

Just wondering if anyone would be so kind as to help me out? I'd like to be able to use CPS 2.0 on this second radio to make programing between the two a little easier.

Thank you,

Curt

That’s what I need, the firmware files to walk it forward. I saw they were posted a few times over the years but none of the links that I have been able to find are still active.

Thanks

Last I saw R02.10 was still available to download from Motorola (myview/flexnet/whatever) for this very reason.

I did a search on 2.10 and found these:

If they're not showing up for you, you'll need to contact Motorola.

CPS 2.0 reads the same thing. If you try to do the update in 2.0, the update sees the radio but when you select the pull down menus the only choice that it gives you are NONE for each of tehree options and even if you select those the update or install button never becuase active. I thnk I need some version of firmwear newer than R02.06.33 but prior to R02.10.10.

You should upgrade to version R02.09.00.0001 which is the last version release in line with CPS 16. This should allow you to read it in CPS 2.0 and/or bump up the FW beyond if you wish or still have issues. R02.06 is too old to do the things you want to do.

I guess my issue is that I need the firmware to do it and it’s not on the Motorola site. I saw that a while back redbeard had posted a .zip file of older firmware for someone but the link is no longer good. Is there someone that can get me that version of firmware to me?

Thank you
