• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

My 7550e has AES as "Purchased" - should I see the option in CPS 2.0? I see basic and enhanced privacy, but nothing for AES.

I have not purchased any entitlement for this - the radio came to me this way.

I don't currently have a working 16. Would AES show up in 16?

I'm waiting to hear from M on my account setup. Hopefully I'll be able to get a working copy, as well as the widepand entitlement.

Did you purchase the AES option?

Shows up on mine with 16. Do NOT mention to Moto anything about AES as it’s not supposed to be on DMR radios in the USA. And they won’t get you CPS16. They want everyone on 2.0 now. And I did not purchase AES for my radio. You have to remember all these radios already have every feature in them. So by purchasing a feature from Moto, you’re not downloading it from them, you’re just unlocking a feature already in your radio.

Then I'm puzzled as to why it doesn°t show up on mine. It would be in the Security tab, right?

Should be in the main radio tab under features or entitlements........ There are only a few folks authorized for AES in the US. Be careful calling Moto, you may be attracting a lot of unwanted attention to whoever you got that radio from. TT

I don't plan to mention that element at all; I'm just waiting to get the business account set up to hopefully get a North American region copy of CPS 16 and the wide band entitlement to do GMRS properly. I've tried numerous copies of 16 from various sites; none will read my radios. They just return the "region not supported" error.

If the 5-7 day figure is remotely believable, then hopefully I'll hear something Tuesday or Wednesday.

If you have a region not supported and AES that is not an North American region radio. You may have issues even using 2.0

Then you have to figure out what region your radio is from, & get the CPS for that region. Can you post a photo of your serial # decal? Maybe someone can figure out what region your radio is from.

Post a photo of the tags and what firmware is currently in the radio. That will answer some of the questions about thay radio

CPS 2.0 works on this radio; it's what I've been using.

After reading the radio -

Region is "NA"

Model Number : H56RDN9RA1AN - the model number on the back tag prefaces this with "AA".
Serial : 871TVDR189
Firmware : 871TVDR189

To me, it looks like a North American region model. If something here says otherwise, please enlighten me.

Bootloader is 2.09

I contacted the company from whom I bought the radios, and they provided me with a copy of the CPS 16 they used to program them. This copy reads them with no issues at all.
