Let’s all say it for the millionth time…And this is why you don’t buy radios of unknown provenance from eBay or any number of other sites. Doesn’t matter what someone says. It’s always a great deal until it isn’t.
It absolutely amazes me how many people sell radios with a password, it's absolute fraud. However I'm pretty sure most of the time the seller has no clue what their selling, they don't understand that just posting photos of the item doesn't tell you much.
It's similar to the morons who try to sell Harris OpenSky 7/800 radios for hundreds of dollars, without option 39. They also have zero idea what they are selling. If a seller can't send you screenshots of the radio in service/maintenance mode then run far away.
I don't want to hear the lame excuses about allegedly not having a power supply, unless it's a very trusted seller I would insist on seeing screenshots of the radio powered up in service mode.
Also I will usually specifically ask sellers to confirm no password or ASK before buying, and then put that in the notes in my PayPal transaction. If you get any hints that they don't know, run far away!!
